The  Realme   juggernaut in India continues with the launch of XT variant in the sub-Rs 20,000 phone market. The Chinese brand launched the Realme X just three months back and now the XT variant has arrived with a new design, slightly better specs on paper and a mighty 64MP quad-lens rear camera which might make you curious as to whether you even need so many lenses. As far as the overall experience is concerned, the XT is more-or-less like the X sans the front pop-up camera. After using the     Realme xt  for some time, here is what we think about the phone.

Realme XT variants and respective prices

The Realme XT comes in three storage and RAM options catering to three different price points. The base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage costs Rs 15,999, the 6GB RAM+64GB storage is priced at Rs 16,999 while the top-end 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage option comes at Rs 18,999.

The smartphone will go on sale for the first time on September 16 at 12pm via Flipkart and Realme.com. As an introductory offer, the company is giving free screen replacement for six months. The phone is available in Blue and White colours only. It’s a dual-SIM phone with a dedicated microSD card slot with support for 256GB additional storage.

Realme’s prime focus is in the affordable value-for-money segment but this doesn’t stop it from experimenting with the looks or offering a premium design. Like the Realme X, the new XT also looks pretty great. The rear of the phone stays true to the ‘pearl white’ look as claimed and looks classy. There is a quad-lens camera module stacked vertically on the top left corner with the primary 64MP sensor highlighted by concentric circles. On the front, the phone flaunts the commonly-seen water drop notch with a noticeable chin at the bottom. The phone, thankfully, comes with a headphone jack and there is a USB Type-C port charging. The volume rockers and power/wake button are placed at the usual left and right sides respectively.

The XT is claimed to be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back sides and held in place by a plastic frame. The device weighs 183 grams on paper but feels lightweight due to the well-balanced weight distribution. Despite housing a 6.4-inch display, the phone is quite compact and easy to carry around. It also fits well inside tight trouser pockets.

the Realme XT is sturdy, slim and good-looking phone that will easily please you for the money you are spending. To enhance the durability of the device, Realme is offering a complimentary clear soft case and a screen guard out-of-the-box..

Realme XT Display
The smartphone comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 3240 pixels. Featuring a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, the device claims a screen-to-body ratio of 91.9%. The display quality is at par with other phones available in this price point. However, it is not the brightest of the panels. At medium to low brightness, legibility under direct sunlight takes a toll. The colours are decent and the viewing angles are reasonably good too. Overall, there is nothing much to talk about in this department as the phone manages to get the job done and the display is not something exceptional to boast. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection as well along with an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric security

 Realme XT Performance

The Realme XT is powered by the new mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chipset. It’s an 8-core chipset with Adreno 616 GPU. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie operating system-based ColorOS 6. Snapdragon 712 chipset is a quite capable chipset for the value-for-money segment and the Realme XT manages to deliver well. Average users opting for internet browsing, watching movies, streaming videos and playing games like PUBG Mobile will find no issues with the performance of Realme XT. This phone is a reasonably good choice in this price range for anyone looking for an overall reliable phone for getting their daily job done. However, the bloatware and the ColorOS interface could be annoying at times. The good part is that you can uninstall most of the pre-loaded apps that come with the phone.

Overall, for the money you are spending on the Realme XT, the device will easily please you with its prowess. Be it for gaming, multitasking or streaming content, the phone will not disappoint.

Realme xt camera

Armed with a quad-lens camera and a 64MP primary sensor, the Realme XT has made tall claims. While the need for 64MP and four lenses to click superior images is debatable, what you should know is that all the four lenses are not used to click a photo. Depending on the camera mode selected, the lenses are engaged.

There is a 64MP primary camera with Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Along with the 64MP primary sensor, there is an 8MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.25 aperture and portrait and macro lens. To click photos in 64MP resolution, you will have to enable the ‘Ultra 64MP’ camera mode. While clicking 64MP photos, you will have to keep your hands steady and note that the image size is pretty big compared to other photos, around 10MB in size.

The 64MP sensor does offer quite a bit detailing but if you compare it with the 48MP sensor in the Realme X, the difference is not something drastic. Overall, the colours are quite accurate and image processing is quick. There is a maximum 10X digital zoom but zooming beyond 4X ruins the photo.
